What happens to your Watch repair at Nuttings Clock and Watch repairs in Hobart.
Firstly the overall condition of the watch is checked by a Qualified, Certified and experienced Watch and Clockmaker.
The movement is taken out of the case and hands and dial removed.
The movement is completely stripped down and then cleaned in a ultrasonic watch cleaning machine. All parts are checked for wear or broken parts, then necessary parts are replaced or handmade to suit. The movement is assembled and then it is re-oiled using only the best Swiss oils and greases. It is the put on a timing machine which measures how fast or slow the watch is, it is adjusted to time using this machine. The movement is put back into the case after the case has been ultrasonically cleaned, polished and glass and seals fitted.
If the watch needs pressure testing it is firstly put in a dry tester under vacuum which tests for any leaks. If it passes this test its on to the wet tester and the watch is then put under pressure in a glass cylinder of water to see if bubbles are seen escaping from the case. The watch is then put on a winder which slowly moves to replicate the movement of the wrist. It is then tested for time again and checked on the timing machine. The final quality control is carried out and when the Watchmaker is satisfied it is returned to the customer.

I need a battery in my watch, so anyone can do this...right?
Replacing a battery in a watch in most peoples eyes is an easy process that any Jeweller or key cutter can do.Think again!!
We are the only full time Watchmakers on Hobart's Eastern Shore that fits batteries. Dont drive to a shopping centre to a Jewellers shop or a key cutter in most cases they cant help you and if they break your watch they cant do anything about it.
Who is opening your watch, are they qualified with the correct tools, is it a dust free and clean environment, remember if its on the bench ,on their hands or in a dusty room it will be going into your timepiece !
Have they got the correct battery and have they fitted it correctly. Have the seals been checked, is the voltage of the battery ok, has the condition of the movement been checked, does the watch need pressure testing, and is it done by them on the spot?
Taking your watch to an unqualified person can cost you dearly it can result in damage to your watch.
Support your Qualified Watchmaker, you will be glad you did.
